Palumbo SY Refit, leader in the refit and repairs of sailing and motor yachts, with a view to strengthening its commercial and assistance strategy, invests overseas by creating its first service point covering the Central America and Caribbean area.
Lucas Delahaye, from several years already part of the Palumbo SY REFIT team and with a considerable wealth of experience in the ship refit and repair industry, will be based in Guadeloupe and will be the new Head of After Sales and Refit/ Repair for Central America and the Caribbean.
‘I am excited about this new challenge and we are already in action assisting all our customers in this area. In the Caribbean the season has just begun and the Central American market is very attractive especially for a Network like ours which can count on a team specialized in the refit and repair of super and mega yachts ”, Lucas Delahaye comments.
Another important step in the expansion plan of the Palumbo SY REFIT network will be the opening of a new office in Antibes due in early January 2021.
“Our expansion program is ambitious and we are confident that we have all the necessary requirements to provide great service and professional support in the field of ship repair and maintenance. The time is ripe also to consolidate the important French market, served by our Marseille facility of over 35,000 square metres and able to service boats from 40 to over 100 metres. The aim of opening the Antibes office, near the Port Vauban marina, is to ensure a proximity service point for our customers and for anyone willing to know more about the Palumbo SY Refit world”, Giuseppe Palumbo, CEO of Palumbo SY Refit, comments.
The new quarters in Central America and the Caribbean together with the Antibes office add to the vast Palumbo SY REFIT network of 5 shipyards located in Malta, Marseille, Savona, Naples and Ancona, and the representative office in Monaco.

Last week, an 82-metre custom superyacht delivered by Blohm+Voss in April 2014 was dry-docked at Palumbo SY Refit Malta.
Penned by London-based H2 Yacht Design, also in charge of all engineering and technical aspects of the platform, among the complex equipment and unique design characteristics of this steel and aluminium superyacht we find a 15-metre x 3-metre indoor pool, which can be converted to a dance floor by raising the pool floor.

Not new to the yard, the time has come for this 82-metre vessel to be hauled to carry out her first Lloyds 5-year Survey.
In addition to the statutory requirements, as set out by the Classification Society, this haul-out period of about 25 days will also give the opportunity to provide other maintenance works not possible when afloat. However, a great thanks goes to the dedicated crew aboard who’s been visibly taking such good care of this amazing masterpiece.
We all look forward to seeing again this Blohm+Voss superyacht cruising extensively in 2021 and beyond.

Fully custom built in 2014 by ISA for a highly knowledgeable yachtsman, 218ft / 66.4m OKTO is one of the finest and totally unique motor yachts. Visually outstanding, her grand ambiance and extraordinary comfort shows everywhere on board and combines to unprecedented technical features like the striking grey and black decks lined in Esthec material. In addition, this 3-deck vessel also boasts a touch-and-go helipad and an array of tenders and toys to allow her 11 guests to make the most of life on the water.
Always maintained in turnkey condition since delivery, OKTO has recently been relying on Palumbo Superyachts Refit & Repair Savona to perform a number of activities, adamant that keeping her in a reliable and seaworthy shape is a crucial element to successful boating.
Let’s discover more about her Captain Aydan Longmore’s view on the shipyard’s performance from the following interview.
What kind of operations have been carried out on Okto?
Major works included a substantial upgrade to the galley and pantry, removing the dumbwaiter on 2 deck levels and matching the design and outfitting with the surrounding workspaces. Mechanically, servicing of the main engines, generators, stabilisers and steering system took place, as well as fuel tank cleaning. The yard assisted with various other servicing and fabrication jobs, and several paint touch ups were also completed.
Why did you choose Palumbo SY Refit Savona?
Savona as a location is well positioned to benefit from surrounding supplier networks, from Italy and France. The team involved with the planning of the shipyard period, especially Diego Marinelli, has a large amount of knowledge of the vessel and this translated to easily communicating our needs during the shipyard period, and keeping all of the projects and work orders on schedule.
What are the strength points of Palumbo Superyachts Refit?
I have only experienced PSY Refit Savona, but from our experience here it is clear that the group as a whole is well organized and resourceful. All change orders were inspected for the scope of work, quoted and work carried out in an incredibly fast manner.
The group also managed a good level of support from their surrounding shipyards, especially from Ancona, where M/Y Okto was built. Being in close proximity to Genoa, where many of our service suppliers are based, PSY Savona is also a convenient location for 3rd party contractors to work in cooperation with the shipyard.
Did our team meet your expectations?
Yes, 90% of the work list was completed with one week to spare. With the larger jobs of paint touch ups and galley/pantry refit carrying into the final week in the yard. Again, I believe this was made possible by the efforts from Diego and the team behind him.
Will you come back to Palumbo Superyachts Refit facilities?
Yes, absolutely.
