Fully custom built by ISA, the 66m GT M/Y OKTO was launched in 2014 and then since it keeps being one of the finest and totally unique yachts her size. Raising the bar in superyacht design and engineering, OKTO merges the upmost expertise, creativity and serenity exceeding all expectations. On top of her black steel hull with its piercing bow stands out the sleek superstructure of her striking profile. A large pool for salt or fresh water on the main deck aft provides the hub of any vacation, while the bridge deck aft abounds with space for alfresco dining, lounging or socializing with friends and family. Whereas, for a more intimate escape guests can reach the secluded sun deck with a Jacuzzi and sunning options. One of the last projects of the late designer Alberto Pinto, OKTO boasts a harmonious continuity between inside and outdoors.
On the main deck, huge windows and glass sliding doors let natural light flood the opulent salon with pale furniture, lacquered surfaces and stainless steel structural details instilling to her 11 guests a sense of grand ambiance and extraordinary comfort that continues throughout the whole yacht.
Powered by 2 CAT engines capable of pushing her to a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 16 knots, at OKTO’s helm are the experienced Captains Aydan Longmore and David Pott. The latter has kindly agreed to answer our follow-up interview before leaving the Savona shipyard at the end of our refit operation.
Q.: Why did you choose Palumbo SY Refit Savona?
A.: We have been working with Palumbo for some time now since they took over ISA yachts.
Certainly, the added benefit of Palumbo Superyachts taking over the build yard for OKTO enables us to have various on-board works carried out with the specialist knowledge of who originally did the job. This knowledge proved essential in several circumstances, making the refit service economically viable and allowing for the work to be completed within our tight maintenance window.
Q.: Are you happy with our team and the services provided at Palumbo SY Refit Savona?
A.: The main work carried out on board involved a major service to shore power converter, planned maintenance and hydraulic hose fitting in engine room with additional trouble shooting, deck caulking, fabrication of some stainless steel parts, interior finishing in high gloss black and LED lighting.
The Palumbo SY Refit team reacted quickly to set up the whole refit program and provided assistance with obtaining spare parts in time so to keep up with our set schedule.
The various works went very well and the benefits of having them completed by the build yard are clear to see. Everyone involved proved to be energetic and enthusiastic and met all of our demands in a very professional manner.
Q.: Would you recommend Palumbo SY Refit Savona?
A.: Most certainly. Our experience was very positive and in a very short space of time we achieved a great deal. I would certainly recommend Palumbo Superyachts especially to any ISA built yacht that may wish to make some upgrades or modifications on board. With the expertise and knowledge at hand, Palumbo will certainly be able to offer solutions that fit in with the build fabric of the yacht.
